How To Deal With Nocturnal Panic Attack

Are nocturnal panic attacks affecting your sleep? Maybe this can help. Though nighttime panic attacks can be extremely alarming there are many ways to deal with and over come them. These night attacks can be prompted by many different things that happen before you go to sleep. The more stress you have in your life the more apt you may be to having these regularly. By learning and understanding what a nocturnal panic attack is you can better help yourself to deal with them.

Dealing with a nocturnal panic attack may not be easy. It requires a lot of change and patients within you. For starters, you need to take a look at all the things you do before you go to bed. You may not know what is causing these episodes to happen but by cutting things out one by one you can narrow it down. Eliminating any kind of eating two hours before bedtime will give your body enough time to digest what it is you ate and settle in your stomach. Create a routine, doing the same thing every night will help with lowering your stress. Meditation and exercise like yoga and Pilates are a great way. Home remedies are also proven to help create a less stressful self. Drinking peppermint tea helps to release endorphins in the brain to help create a sense of mental relaxation. Keeping this daily routine going will help to cease all major triggers for the nocturnal panic attacks. Even after doing all these things you may still experience nocturnal panic attacks but they should be less frequent. Anxiety is driven by anticipation. Try to say on the moment and take things one at a time. Don’t overwhelm yourself when the what if. Try not to fight the feelings that come along with anxiety. They will only pull you deeper into the dark state where they lie. Know that these attacks rarely ever last more then thirty minuets. Prepare your mind for this and hope for the best. Only you can control what you think and do about the present situation. When waking up from a state of nocturnal anxiety go into the bathroom, wash your face with cold water, get a drink of water and breathe. Calm yourself down by doing breathing exercises.

Face your fear and hop back in bed. You will wake up refreshed and ready for a new day. If you notice that each attack is only getting worse then it may be time to call or visit a doctors office. He or she will be able to prescribe you with the right medicine to help you get thru the night and the attacks will then become less and less. If you are already prescribed medicine then maybe you need to try taking it at different times of the day instead of before bed. Try taking the meds one hour before bed. Of course anytime you change the way you take a prescribed medicine make sure to check with you doctor first.
